The Upper Mustang Trek is one of Nepal's most distinctive trekking experiences, taking you into the former Kingdom of Lo, a high-altitude desert north of the Himalayas near the Tibet border. The region was closed to foreign visitors until 1992, helping preserve its Tibetan Buddhist culture, ancient monasteries, and medieval villages.

Most itineraries last 10–14 days, typically starting from Jomsom and passing through Kagbeni before entering the restricted Upper Mustang region.

Day 04: Trek from Kagbeni to Chele (3,050m / 10,007ft)

Day 05: Trek from Chele to Syanboche (3,800m / 12,467ft) via Chumsi Cave

Day 06: Trek from Syanboche to Dhakmar (3,630m / 11,910ft) via Nya La Pass

Day 07: Trek from Dhakmar to Lo Manthang via Choku-La Pass

Day 08: Exploration Day in Lo Manthang (3,840m / 12,598ft)

Day 09: Trek from Lo Manthang to Yara (3,650m / 11,975ft)

Day 10: Trek from Yara to Tetang (3,060m / 10,039ft) via Paa Pass

Day 11: Trek from Tetang to Chhusang (2,980m / 9,777ft)

Day 12: Chhusang to Muktinath (3,800m) Duration: 7-8 hours.

Day 13: Muktinath to Jomson (2750m) Via Kagbeni; Duration: 5-6 hours.

Day 14: Fly from Jomson to Pokhara (820M) & drive to accommodation; Duration: 30 minutes.

Day 15: Drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu (1,350m) Duration: 6-7 hours.

Day 16: International departure from Kathmandu Airport.

Includes/Excludes

  • Two nights’ standard accommodation in a 3-star hotel in Kathmandu in a twin-sharing basis including 2 breakfasts.

  • Extra drinks as alcoholic & non-alcoholic such as Fanta, tea, coffee, Coca-cola, sprite, water, beer, etc.
  • Additional cost by out of management control due to the landscape, weather condition, illness, change of government policies, strikes, and physical condition, etc.
  • Personal expenses such as snacks, laundry, telephone, WIFI, hot shower, etc at tea houses on a trek.
  • Travel insurance has to cover emergency rescue evacuation from the high-altitude
